Kim Soo-hyun denies dating rumours involving late actress Kim Sae-ron

Queen of Tears star Kim Soo-hyun has denied recent dating rumours involving him and late actress Kim Sae-ron.

On March 10, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, released a statement to South Korean news outlet SBS, where it addressed claims made by Kim Sae-ron’s family in an interview with a YouTube channel that same day. The actress passed early last month aged 24, with authorities treating her death as a suicide.

The channel, called HoverLab Inc., releases a video where Kim Sae-ron’s alleged family claimed the late actress had been in a romantically involved with Kim Soo-hyun for six years, starting from when she was 15 years old and he was 27 years old. The channel claims to have verified the allegations with the actress’ parents, and the video included alleged snippets of a phone conversation with a member of her family.

“The claims made by HoverLab Inc. in their YouTube broadcast about Kim Soo-hyun are clearly false and baseless,” Gold Medalist said in its the statement, as translated by Soompi. “These malicious claims directed at our company and actor Kim Soo-hyun are entirely false and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. We are currently reviewing the strongest possible legal actions against HoverLab Inc. for spreading these falsehoods.”

Gold Medalist added that “the dissemination of such false information by HoverLab Inc. mirrors the very behaviour of so-called ‘cyber wreckers’ that caused the late actress so much pain during her lifetime”.

“Their actions, driven solely by self-interest, not only damage our company but also tarnish the honour of the deceased, and thus we will respond to this matter with the utmost seriousness,” it wrote.

Aside from dating rumours, Kim Soo-hyun was also accused of ignoring Kim Sae-ron’s attempts to contact him last year after she was served a notice by his agency, Gold Medalist, which she was also signed to until late 2022. The notice demanded she pay the company ₩700million for damages in relation to her controversial DUI incident in 2022.
