Konami has finally given fans a proper look at the long-awaited Silent Hill f with a terrifying new trailer.

Developers haven’t revealed much more about Silent Hill f after it was originally announced back in 2022 with a creepy, two-minute teaser trailer. However last night (March 13), Konami hosted a special Silent Hill transmission dedicated to the new game.

As well as sharing an eerie reveal trailer, Konami confirmed acclaimed psychological horror writer Ryukishi07 is behind the game’s story while music will come from legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, who will be responsible for composing the score for the game’s Otherworld.

Set in the remote Japanese town of Ebisugaoka during the 1960s, Silent Hill f focuses on teenager Shimizu Hinako. “They lead an unremarkable life—until a thick fog descends, transforming her once-familiar home into a desolate and terrifying place.

“With the town seemingly abandoned and an unknown, creeping menace lurking in the mist, Hinako must navigate the spectral remnants of her past, solve intricate puzzles, and battle horrifying entities to survive. Faced with impossible decisions, she must ultimately choose between beauty and madness, confronting the horrors that await within the fog,” explains a press release.

Silent Hill f will challenge players with uncomfortable themes and their attached psychological torment. The game reflects the customs and culture of Japan during that era while delivering an intense and deeply emotional horror experience.”

“Incredible trailer, and interesting to see them venture into East Asian mythos / Shinto theology this time for their inspiration rather than on the heavy Christian themes in previous games,” wrote one fan. “Yeah I can already tell this is going to be twisted and dark as shit.

“The Japanese are masters of horror and atmosphere. Now they’re playing on their home turf, I expect to be starting therapy,” added another. “Looks incredible, almost too good. Will keep hype in check,” wrote a third.

“To this day, I remember the feeling of my first encounter with the strangling and oppressive atmosphere of Silent Hill,” said writer Ryukishi07 in a statement. “It still deeply haunts me and it still utterly fascinates me. It’s an honour to find myself involved with a series I have so many memories with. I’ve poured all my efforts into this story, so much so that I don’t think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.”

“To me, the Silent Hill series is more than just a collection of stories, it’s a medium; an amazing, phenomenal way of exploring and experiencing a person’s heart and mind,” he added. “It’s my hope that players out there will come to appreciate it in the same way.”

A release date for Silent Hill f has yet to be announced but it will be launching later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

In other news, the first wave of artists for the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4’s soundtrack have been revealed.
