Big-budget ‘Invincible’ game is “definitely” still in the works
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has promised the big budget video game is “definitely” still in the works after a year of silence.
Invincible is a coming-of-age superhero comic book written by Robert Kirkman. It was first published in 2003 and ran for 144 issues. It spawned a number of spin-offs and a beloved Amazon Prime Video adaptation premiered in 2021, with a fourth and fifth season confirmed last year.
Last year also saw developers Skybound announce that they were working on a video game adaptation of Invincible. A crowdfunding campaign raised $687,000 to go alongside the $18million they’d already acquired from private investors. Not much was shared about the sort of game they were looking to make, but Skybound did confirm they wanted to work with a team of industry veterans for the project.

The crowdfunder ended in April last year and Skybound hasn’t shared any more updates on the project. However in a new interview with Dexerto, Kirkman reassured fans that the game was “definitely still in the works”.
“I don’t know what I can say…It’s definitely cool. I don’t even know if I can say how much of it I’ve seen,” he continued. “I’m gonna play it safe and just say, from what I have seen, I am more excited than I’ve been about anything involving Invincible.”
“Skybound is developing a highly produced, high-octane blood bath that is anything but indie. Our bona fide global hit IP, Invincible, is at the center, and we’ve hand-picked our own team, consisting of more than 30 gaming industry veterans to make it happen,” explained the Crowdfunder. “If you follow the show, you can imagine exactly what to expect from this video game: tons of action, stunning game and character design, and of course, a healthy dose of blood.”
“In both competitive and local play modes, the game is designed to contribute new stories to the Invincible multiverse, enabling future releases, expansions, new character arcs and adventures for years to come,” with plans for multiple expansions and special editions.
