BMI Launches Spark Program Offering Career Assistance, Health & Wellness Resources & More

BMI is making a two-fold move to help music creators improve their career and lifestyle opportunities.

First off, the PRO has created Spark, a program that will offer creators special discounts on music creation and technology tools while also providing educational content and health and wellness resources. Secondly, BMI will no longer charge an application fee when new songwriters and composers seek to join the organization.

“We developed BMI Spark after hearing from our songwriters and composers about the services and resources they wanted to best support them throughout their careers,” Mike Steinberg, BMI’s chief revenue & creative officer, said in a statement. “Our curated program of exclusive discounts, special offers and invaluable resources is designed to help our affiliates elevate their craft, spark their creativity, and enhance their well-being as they navigate the music industry. We look forward to growing Spark by continuing to add new partners and providing new benefits to support our incredible creative community.”

The company’s online services portal gives more information about each of the new services available to creators. BMI’s inaugural partners in providing exclusive offers and special discounts for “career development” opportunities include BandLab, Cosynd, DISCO for Artists, Disc Makers, FedEd, LANDR, Manny’s Output and Rise. For “learn & development” opportunities, BMI is providing “educational resources and exclusive content” to help creatives “learn about the music industry, refine their craft and unlock their potential with expert advice” from Berklee Online, School of DISCO, Rise and more.

Finally, for “lifestyle and well-being” opportunities, Spark allows creatives to access curated resources tailored for music creators and industry professionals from organizations like the Music Health Alliance, Porter’s Call, and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. They will also be able to obtain discounts on Nashville’s Hutton Hotel and its Writers Studio.

BMI noted that it plans to expand Spark by adding more partners and special offers to further service its family of songwriters, composers and producers in the future.
