Megan Thee Stallion’s attorneys want Tory Lanez held in contempt for making “mockery” of court
Megan Thee Stallion‘s attorneys want Tory Lanez to be held in contempt for making a “mockery” of the court.
The rapper’s legal team filed a motion on Wednesday (April 16) to hold Lanez in contempt for being “disruptive” during a deposition, as per Billboard.
They claim that Lanez’s behaviour led to his deposition being cancelled after he “feigned ignorance regarding the definition of basic words” and harassed Megan’s attorney. According to the filing, Lanez “pretended that the video equipment was not working despite prison staff confirming it was functioning properly.”
“Mr. Peterson made a mockery of the proceedings,” Megan’s attorneys wrote. “Nothing short of a contempt finding and meaningful sanctions will deter Mr. Peterson from continuing to abuse the process.”
They claim that Lanez requested definitions for basic words, including “meet”, saying (per a transcript reported by Rolling Stone), “It could mean a lot of things. I mean meat could be a hot dog; meat could be a steak; meat could be red meat. It could be a lot of things.”

“You know what I’m saying? You could watch porno,” Lanez allegedly continued. “Meat – meat is a whole different thing over there. ‘Meet’ can be anything. I’m asking you what is your definition of ‘meet.’”
The judge gave Lanez until April 30 to explain why he should not be held in contempt of court for “violating the court’s order authorising his deposition.”
The deposition is part of Megan’s ongoing defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against YouTuber Milagro Gramz – real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper.
Megan filed a lawsuit against Cooper in October, alleging that she had shared deepfake porn of Megan and spread lies about her case with Lanez. The suit also accused Cooper of “cyberstalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy”.
In February, a judge in Florida ruled that Megan can continue to pursue her suit against Cooper after making a “compelling case” that the blogger acted with a “reckless disregard for the truth” in posts about the rapper.
Cooper denies conspiring with Lanez and tried to get the lawsuit dismissed on the grounds that she was shielded as a journalist.

Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison last August for an incident that happened in July 2020, when Megan was shot in her feet while leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.
He was found guilty of all three charges pegged against him: one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and one charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The rapper-singer has maintained his innocence from behind bars and was granted a chance to appeal the judgement this July.
Since then, Megan has successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling a court that she feared she may be shot again if Lanez were to be released from prison.
Megan opened up about the incident in her documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, released back in October via Amazon Prime Video. She also issued a “final” response to the incident in which she reflected on the “humiliation” she faced from the public when coming forward with the claims.
