Welsh Rockers Those Damn Crows Earn Debut U.K. No. 1 Album

Those Damn Crows has earned its first-ever No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart on Friday (April 18) with fourth album God Shaped Hole. The Welsh band had previously peaked at No. 3 with 2023’s Inhale/Exhale.

By hitting the top spot, the Bridgend-based rockers — Shane Greenhall, Ian “Shiner” Thomas, David Winchurch, Lloyd Wood and Ronnie Huxford — become the first Welsh artist to hit No. 1 since Ren achieved the feat in October 2023.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company, the band said, “This is unbelievable! It’s not just a thank you for this specific moment. It’s 10 years of sticking with us, all reaching one goal, and we did it — No. 1! Thank you so much, it’s absolutely insane.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet continues its streak at No. 2, while Oasis experience a Record Store Day bump for its Time Flies… 1994-2009 greatest hits collection, which finishes at No. 3. The compilation was reissued in a 4-LP format and precedes the band’s reunion shows, which kick off in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4.

Bon Iver earns another top 10 placing with new album Sable, Fable (No. 4), and follows the success of 2008’s For Emma, Forever Ago (No. 42), 2011’s Bon Iver, Bon Iver (No. 4), 2016’s 22, A Million (No. 2) and 2019 LP i,i (No. 11).

There were further entries for Record Store Day releases with Sam Fender’s Me and the Dog EP (No. 14), Liam Gallagher’s Acoustic Sessions (No. 13) and Charli XCX’s Number 1 Angel (No. 37) all entering the top 40.
