The pair, who appeared together in the Bill & Ted movies, will star in a new version of Samuel Beckett’s classic play Waiting For Godot on Broadway later this year, directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Performances begin on September 13 at the Hudson Theatre, ahead of opening night on September 28. Tickets go on general sale tomorrow (April 23) – sign up for access here.

Written in 1949, Waiting For Godot centers on two characters – Vladimir (Winter) and Estragon (Reeves) – who wait together endlessly for someone named Godot, who never arrives. It explores existential themes, with the two men passing the time by engaging in meaningless conversations and philosophical musings.
The synopsis for Lloyd’s new staging on the play’s official website reads: “Celebrated actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are real-life friends who will be starring on Broadway as two friends searching for meaning in an absurd world.
“Waiting for Godot is the greatest play ever written about nothing. Nothing and everything. But mostly nothing. Seriously, nothing happens.
“Directed by Olivier Award-winning and Tony-nominated visionary Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Blvd., A Doll’s House, Betrayal), this exhilarating, hilarious and deeply human new production of Samuel Beckett’s self-proclaimed “tragicomedy” asks all of life’s big questions – and answers none of them. It’s ridiculous! Life, and this play. But the wait is worth the wait.”

Reeves and Winter starred in a trilogy of Bill & Ted movies across over three decades: 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, and 2020’s Bill & Ted Face The Music.
Speaking in a behind-the-scenes video on the new play, when asked about why the pair have chosen now to take to the stage, Winter said: “We had just acted together again, and we hadn’t done that in a long time and it was really fun. And it was like, ‘How can we do that again?’. But also, playing different characters. Let’s do something where we get to play, but not [as Bill and Ted], was really appealing.”
Regarding the show marking his Broadway debut, Reeves said: “For me, it’s been a childhood dream. I’ve never done it. And in the past, my feeling of being on the stage is that it just feels like home.”
Elsewhere, earlier this month Reeves was officially confirmed to be returning as John Wick in a fifth film, despite previously dismissing the idea. He is also reported to be appearing in a new mockumentary movie revolving around a rivalry between Weezer and his band, Dogstar.
