Carlos Santana postpones show “out of an abundance of caution” after medical emergency
Santana postponed a show in Texas last night (April 22) after frontman Carlos Santana was hospitalised following a medical emergency.
The US rock band had been scheduled to perform at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio as part of their 2025 ‘Oneness’ North American tour.
However, it has been reported that the musician fainted during a sound check at the venue. Emergency services are said to have arrived at approximately 5pm, with Santana later being admitted to a local hospital as a precaution (via San Francisco Chronicle).
His condition was described as non-life-threatening, per the San Antonio Fire Department.
Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, subsequently issued a statement. He confirmed that the frontman had been “taken in for observation” after experiencing what was believed to be dehydration.
“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed,” the message began.
“Mr. Santana was at the venue (Majestic Theatre) preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration.
“Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour.”
Vrionis added: Thank you you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”
Fans are being advised to keep their tickets for the impacted concert. You can see the statement in the post above.
Santana are set to resume their tour in Sugar Land, Texas tonight (April 23).
Earlier this year, Carlos Santana was forced to postpone a residency in Las Vegas after breaking his finger in a fall. He also pushed back numerous performances in 2022 “out of an abundance of caution for his health”.
This summer, the group will play a run of UK ‘Oneness’ headline shows. These are scheduled to take place at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s O2 in June, following a series of dates in Europe.
