Here’s when the next ‘Escape From Tarkov’ wipe will happen
Hardcore first-person shooter Escape From Tarkov is due its next wipe, meaning players should expect to lose all their gear and progress in the coming weeks. However, the game’s current wipe — which started in December 2022 — has carried on for longer than usual, leaving players to wonder when the next Escape From Tarkov wipe will actually arrive.

While losing your progress in most games would be a nightmare, wipes are an exciting time for Escape From Tarkov fans, as it returns the game to a level playing field. This means end-game players must start from scratch without their top-tier equipment, and everyone must level their skills and complete quests from the beginning. It’s an effective way at ensuring the shooter stays fresh and relatively balanced, but as of yet, developer Battlestate Games has offered few clues as to when Escape From Tarkov will wipe.
When is the next ‘Escape From Tarkov’ wipe?
While nothing has been confirmed just yet, Escape From Tarkov usually wipes twice per year: once in June or early July, and again in December. These dates mean Tarkov wipes usually last around six months, but as the last year’s wipe was on December 12, the ongoing wipe is the second-longest in Tarkov‘s history.
Based on previous wipes, fans should expect Escape From Tarkov to wipe in July 2023 — but it seems to be different this time around. For starters, we’re already over halfway through the month and Battlestate Games has not yet implemented any pre-wipe events: unbalanced, chaotic in-game activities that signify a wipe is on the way.
However, a broadcast of Tarkov TV is scheduled to broadcast on July 19, at 5:30 PM BST. Here, Battlestate Games will outline “current ongoing work and future plans,” which may reveal a date for Tarkov‘s next wipe. When the broadcast rolls around, you can watch it here.
If the stream fails to confirm a date, players are best off waiting to see when the aforementioned pre-wipe events begin. These usually last for a week or two and are easy to spot: previously, they have included every boss appearing on Customs, Labs opening up for free, and mysterious changes in the weather.
As of July 17, 2023, players have been experiencing tweaked ‘Obdolbos Cocktail Injector’ effects and bosses arriving on Facotry — though these are fairly tame in comparison to previous events.
