Storme Warren Exits SiriusXM The Highway

SiriusXM The Highway morning show host Storme Warren is exiting his post after nearly two decades. His last day is Friday (May 12). His co-host, Macie Banks, will continue to host the show solo on an interim basis going forward.

“We are grateful for Storme’s contributions over the years in helping build The Highway on SiriusXM into the leading destination for today’s country music,” said Steve Blatter, senior vp/GM, music programming for SiriusXM, via a statement. “We wish Storme all the best and look forward to continuing the tradition of presenting our listeners with the next generation of new country superstars.”

Warren joined SiriusXM in 2006. In 2015, Warren told Billboard of his love of working in radio, saying, “Radio was always my first love. I started way back in 1983 in Tulsa [Okla.], and then my focus turned to entertainment news reporting for CNN and Showbiz Today, and then on to TNN Country News and This Week in Country Music and all that stuff for Jim Owens and Crook & Chase. I thought radio was done for me, but in the back of my mind, it was like, “Geez, it’d be so good to be a part of that again.”

Banks joined SiriusXM in 2021, and recently took over as host on The Highway’s Middday show.

The news follows other recent role expansions at SiriusXM. Johnny Chiang, who joined Pandora as senior director of country programming in August 2022, expanded his role to also oversee country music programming at SiriusXM. Chiang now serves as the lead programmer for country music at both Pandora and SiriusXM, and continues to develop country music programming.

SiriusXM also recently added a new year-round channel, Carrie’s Country, curated by Carrie Underwood. The channel will launch in June, exclusively on SiriusXM.
