Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne on ‘Don’t Say Love,’ Her Solo Sound, Balancing Her Family & Career | Billboard News

Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock talks about her first solo single “Don’t Say Love,” what fans can expect from her music, balancing her family and career, what’s next for Little Mix and more.

Leigh-Anne:
We will literally have an R&B jam.

Hi, it’s Leigh-Anne, and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly:
It’s Tetris with Billboard News, and we’re feeling all pink and pretty today with Leigh-Anne. How are you doing?

Leigh-Anne:
I’m good. How are you?

Tetris Kelly:
I’m amazing. So happy you came all the way over the pond to hang out with us.

“Don’t Say Love” is a certified bop — love it. So tell me why you decided this was going to be your introduction to the public as a solo artist.

Leigh-Anne:
So yeah, “Don’t Say Love” up came in, like, the beginning of the process — always knew it was a banger. It kind of became obvious quite quickly that it needed to be the first single, and especially with the meaning of it. The idea of wanting to be loved wholeheartedly and like, like at 100%. I think it was very relatable to me, and I just thought, “You know what? Yeah, this needs to be the first one.”

Tetris Kelly:
And that’s such a relatable subject in general, I think, that touches people. So how’s your fan reaction been to the single?

Leigh-Anne:
It’s been incredible, it’s been better than I could have imagined. Just seeing people like doing their videos and singing to it and how happy it’s making people. Like, that’s what it’s all about. So yeah, it’s been really good.
