Jamie Lynn Spears Reacts to Shocking ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Elimination: ‘I Got to Raise Some Money’

There will be no mirrorball trophy for Jamie Lynn Spears. The singer-actress — who was paired with pro dancer Alan Bersten — was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars in just week two of the competition on Tuesday (Oct. 3), and shared her thoughts on social media after the show.

“Alan, you’re the absolute best friend and partner that anyone could ever ask for. I got to raise some money for my #SAGAFTRA community and meet some of the most amazing ppl, and That’s a win by all accounts in what I set out to do,” she captioned an Instagram carousel of photos and videos from her brief time on the ballroom bash.

The “How Could I Want More” singer had delivered a cha-cha for Latin Night that the judges pointed out lacked confidence, though she did improve upon week one. She earned 16 out of 30 points for the effort — far from the lowest score of the night, making her cut a surprise for views and the judges alike. (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky landed at the bottom with 12 points for their salsa.)

The Zoey 102 actress told her fans in her post that she was aware of their dismay over her unexpected elimination. “Yalllllll, I promise I hear and see all the many wonderfully passionate ppl who are not happy with the way things fell tonight, and i appreciate the tremendous amount love and support, but this was an amazing experience, and I’m very happy to have been apart of it,” she wrote. “soooo excited to see all the fabulous contestants and their partners continue to KILL it each week!!!!!”

Bernsten also shared his disappointment at their early exit from the competition. “There’s nothing I love more than dancing on @dancingwiththestars,” he wrote in an Instagram Story that was accompanied by a large crying emoji.

When Spears was first announced as a cast member for the 32nd season of the dance competition, she shared on Good Morning America that her earnings would be going to a good cause. “I’m ready to challenge myself, and also being able to do it for a reason that means a lot to me while everybody in my community’s on strike in SAG,” she said at the time. “I’ve had this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work. So I figured, ‘I’ll do this, and I’ll donate my weekly salary to SAG, WGA — just give back to them in a time where they can’t even give to themselves.”
