Jimin of BTS Has a New Solo Documentary on the Way: Here’s When It Arrives
Just a few months after making Billboard chart history with “Like Crazy,” BTS’ Jimin is set to unveil his new solo documentary. Titled Jimin’s Production Diary, the new film is currently slated for an Oct. 23 release exclusively on Weverse.
The new project is a HYBE Original documentary film that explores the process behind FACE, Jimin’s first solo album, which spawned the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Like Crazy.” The film provides viewers with an unfiltered look into Jimin as an individual and person as he explains the emotions and thought patters behind his first solo project.
Jimin announced the documentary via BTS official social media pages on Oct. 9 when he posted a brief video of him transcribing the film’s title on blank notepad. On the day following the surprise announcement (Oct. 10), a teaser trailer hit BTS’ official social media pages. In the trailer — which finds Jimin recording one of the album’s songs in a studio — the Grammy nominee says, “It’s something that I shouldn’t think too simply. It became the opportunity to know what I should do more clearly.” He added, “I can say that there are more things I want to do.”
A “release calendar” arrived alongside the initial Oct. 10 announcement. According to the schedule, a full-length trailer will be unveiled on Oct. 13, with pre-orders for the film beginning on Oct. 14. The schedule — which runs through Oct. 26 — also features such pieces of content as lyric videos, additional posters, a quiz show and a special message from Jimin to his fans.
Jimin’s Production Diary is the latest in a string of streaming projects from the Bangtan Boys. Last July, HYBE and the Walt Disney Company teamed up to a reveal a new global content partnership boasting five total streaming titles, including three exclusive projects focusing on BTS or BTS members. Since the announcement of that collaboration, two of the three projects have seen the light of day, with fans still eagerly awaiting the release of a docuseries titled Monuments: Beyond the Star.
In April, Jimin hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with FACE. In addition to the chart-topping “Like Crazy,” FACE also housed “Set Me Free, Pt. 2,” which peaked at No. 30 on the Hot 100. In addition to those two songs, Jimin notched two more Hot 100 entries this year: “Angel, Pt. 1” (No. 65, with Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE & Muni Long) and “Vibe” (No. 76, with TAEYANG).
And on Sept. 20, Billboard reported that all seven BTS members renewed their group contracts and individual partnerships with Big Hit Music.
