Megan Fox Reveals How Machine Gun Kelly Helped Her Journey to ‘Heal’ with New Poetry Book
Megan Fox‘s new book of poetry, titled Pretty Boys are Poisonous, is full of entries about toxic relationships she’s had with men — and luckily, it seems that Machine Gun Kelly isn’t one of them.
While promoting the book on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress opened up about the support she’s received from her rapper-rocker fiancé throughout the process of writing and publishing. “I think it helps that he’s an artist himself, and he recognizes that he has this outlet where he gets to experience this catharsis through songwriting,” she tells Barrymore in a teaser clip from the interview, which goes live on YouTube Friday (Nov. 10). “As an actor, you don’t really have that. When you love someone, you’re not gonna deny them the right to experience a relief from their suffering. That’s just part of what it is to care about someone and want to see them heal.”
Barrymore went on to ask the Jennifer’s Body star how she feels when people speculate about her relationship, specifically when it comes to fans who may interpret her poetry or MGK’s lyrics as being about each other.
“Inevitably, once you’re in a famous relationship, anything I do or say for the rest of my life, people will probably think it’s about him, because the relationship is so public,” Fox replied. “You have to just let it go. It’s about expressing the truth and healing yourself through your art. You can’t really worry about what other people are going to think. I’ve read some of his song lyrics and been like, ‘Okay, are we really gonna…?'”
The actress went on to add that when it comes to her past relationships, she is not blameless.”Anyone who dated me in my early twenties should probably write their own poetry book, because I was not a peach,” she concluded, earning laughs from the audience.
Fox also tackled another heavy topic in her book: a miscarriage she suffered while with MGK. “I’ve never been through anything like that in my life,” she told Good Morning America earlier this week. “I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately … trying to navigate, ‘What does this mean?’ and ‘Why did this happen?’”
The New Girl alum shares three sons with ex-husband Brian Austin Green. She began dating the “Bloody Valentine” singer in 2020 after meeting on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass. The pair eventually got engaged in early 2022.
