Joe Biden Confuses Taylor Swift With Britney Spears During Turkey Pardoning Speech
Joe Biden got two blonde pop stars confused on Monday (Nov. 20) during his Thanksgiving turkey pardoning speech.
During the speech, which also happened to take place on his 81st birthday, the President was discussing the pardoned turkeys, named Liberty and Bell, noting that they went through a difficult journey of traveling over a thousand miles. “You could say it’s harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour or,” Biden says before appearing to struggle to remember Taylor Swift‘s name in order to mention the popular Eras tour.
“Or Britney’s tour,” he said instead, seemingly referring to Britney Spears. “She’s down in — it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.” Watch the video here.
Swift is fresh off a string of performances at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro. The singer postponed the second night of her Eras Tour concert in Brazil on Saturday (Nov. 18) due to “extreme temperatures” in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian concert promoter T4T noted in a statement on Instagram that Saturday’s concert will be scheduled for Monday (Nov. 20). Further information about rescheduled event will be shared through taylorswifttheerastour.com.br.
Many concert-goers complained that they were not allowed to bring in water bottles to the stadium despite a record-breaking heat wave in Rio, the Associated Press reports. Temperatures reached 102.4 degrees Fahrenheit in the city on Friday.
