A new Game Of Thrones film is reportedly in early development at Warner Bros., according to reports.

Both Deadline Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter have shared that they have spoken to several anonymous sources who have confirmed that the Game Of Thrones movie is in “very early stage development” at the studio, with no filmmaker, cast or writer yet attached at the project.

This isn’t the first time a Game Of Thrones film has been spoken of. In 2014, franchise author George R.R. Martin said he was keen on making several films, though the suggestion was refused by HBO.

So far – apart from the mainline Game Of Thrones series – only one spin-off or prequel project has aired: House of The Dragon. Season two of the fantasy drama concluded in August. The series has also been picked up for season three, it was announced earlier this year.

In a four-star review of the first season of the spin-offNME wrote: “What is reassuring is that House Of The Dragon feels as though it is walking on solid ground: the bubbling rivalries, the jostling for power, the eruptions of violence; six episodes in, it is all coming together to create a rich stew.”

Other Game Of Thrones-related projects in development currently in development include the Ten Thousand Ships spin-off and the prequel series A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. A total of five projects were announced since the conclusion of Game Of Thrones – one being House of The Dragon – though two have since been scrapped.

George R.R. Martin in June said that A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms had begun filming and will air sometime in early 2025, though HBO Max has yet to confirm a release date. The series will be adapted from Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, which takes place roughly 100 years before the events of Game Of Thrones, and a century after the events of House Of The Dragon.

In other Game Of Thrones news, Kit Harington recently reflected on the final season, admitting that he thinks “there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.”
