A$AP Rocky teams up with Jessica Pratt on new song ‘Highjack’, teases mega collaboration with Morrissey and more
A$AP Rocky has released a new song, ‘Highjack’, featuring Jessica Pratt.
The rapper co-produced the new song, which features backing vocals from Jon Batiste and Creed B Good, with Hitkidd, Zach Fogarty, Greg Kurstin, Jordan Patrick, and Rex Kudo.
Rocky opened up about about collaborating with Pratt in a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, saying: “I just love alternative.”
“I love just different sounds and whatnot,” he continued. “ [Jessica Pratt] kind of gave me this kind of Portishead meets Stevie Nicks vibe a little bit. Right. So I always fucked with her as a artist, and so I figured it was necessary to get her, Jon Batiste on this one and kind of make it feel soulful to bring it on home in the outro.”
The New Yorker also hinted at working with Fatman Scoop, Flavor Flav, Slick Rick, Morrissey and Busta Rhymes on an upcoming track named ‘Hood Happy’, saying: “It’s kinda nuts” while promising it was “coming soon”.
In June, Rocky announced his upcoming album, ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ is due for release on August 30 – it is now available for pre-saving and pre-ordering of various bundles.
While a tracklist for the record has yet to be revealed, the NFR Podcast reported that the album will include features from the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Madlib, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia, The Alchemist, Clams Casino, Mike Dean and more.
Elsewhere, it was suggested he was going to respond to Drake‘s disses on the album, with DJ Kast One commenting: “I heard A$AP Rocky definitely addressing a lot of the main topics that are happening out here right now. Let’s just say, the list keeps going on strong,” on Hot 97.
