Adele thanks fans for “phenomenal experience” on Munich residency: “I am truly touched”
Adele has reflected on her recent Munich residency, thanking fans for the “phenomenal experience” in an emotional post.
Last month saw the ’30’ singer play a 10-date stint at the purpose-built 80,000-capacity Messe München arena in Germany, marking her first performances in mainland Europe since 2016.
She has since announced that she will be taking an extended break from performing after her rescheduled Las Vegas residency concerts in October and November. “After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” she said at her final Munich gig.
Earlier this summer, Adele confirmed that she doesn’t have “any plans for new music, at all”, and said she wanted to pursue “other creative things” during her upcoming hiatus.
Yesterday (September 3), the star opened up about her huge Munich residency in a post on social media. She also shared a professionally shot video containing clips from the live dates.
“Wow! Wow! Wow! Munich you were incredible! What a phenomenal experience. I am truly touched by the genuine outpouring of love and goodwill I felt from every single person who came to every single show,” Adele wrote in the caption.
“It was the best vibes all round. I’ve never seen anything like these shows it was truly spectacular, and I am beyond honoured to have been asked to do them. I hope those of you who came had the best time at ‘Adele World’. I had the time of my life adding all the personal and immersive touches to it.”
The singer went on to say that she was “overwhelmingly proud” of her “entire team and teammates”, adding: “Thank you as always for making me look so fucking good.”
She continued: “There truly is no feeling like standing in front of people you’ve never met, belting out a bunch of songs that changed your life that in ways somehow changed theirs too.
“It’s truly remarkable and an extraordinary story to be able to tell. I’ve been sobbing watching this beautiful video! Danke Munchen! .” You can check out the post above.
The Munich residency saw Adele perform in the torrential rain, announce her engagement to Rich Paul live on stage, give a shout-out to the “spectacular” Chappell Roan, and pause the set to stream the semi-final and final of the women’s 100m Olympic races.
Elsewhere on the run, Adele performed her 2008 single ‘Chasing Pavements’ for the first time in seven years.
Speaking about her decision to go on a break from music, Adele explained: “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.” However, she told her fans in Munich that she would “remember these shows for eternity, they have been spectacular”.
