ADOR announces “enhanced safety measures” for NewJeans following death threat
K-pop agency ADOR has announced “enhanced safety measures” for girl group NewJeans following death threats against the quintet.
NewJeans are set to hold their first-ever concerts in Japan in the next two days (June 26 and 27) at the Tokyo Dome. Their agency ADOR has since announced that it is “preparing enhanced safety measures with the Japanese concert planning company” for the upcoming shows, per News1 via Soompi.
The K-pop agency’s statement comes just a day after a now-deleted death threat against NewJeans was posted on the South Korean internet forum DC Inside on June 24. Per Koreaboo, the post was titled “I bought this to use at the NewJeans concert” and featured an image of a knife.
In the body of the post, the anonymous user also wrote: “I’m going to stab each one of NewJeans’ members once they come out of the van.” In addition, they had also allegedly written other posts about the K-pop girl group.
Aside from the additional security measures at their upcoming Japan concerts, ADOR also said in its statement that they are also taking measure in Korea against the threat.
“The police are investigating, and we are actively participating in the investigation,” the K-pop agency said. “We are making every effort to ensure that the artists can participate in scheduled activities safely.”
Last week, NewJeans dropped a music video for their new Japanese single, ‘Supernatural’. The release of came amid an increasingly heated feud between ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE over the ownership of the NewJeans label.
