‘Alan Wake 2’ getting new ‘The Lake House’ expansion next month
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that a new expansion is coming for Alan Wake 2 later this year.
The Lake House DLC is the second expansion for Alan Wake 2, after Night Springs was released earlier this year.
“Dive into a harrowing survival horror experience with the latest expansion for Alan Wake 2, set in an eerie new location on the shores of Cauldron Lake,” reads the official description. “Within the Federal Bureau of Control’s research station, the Lake House, a catastrophic event has occurred, where reckless experiments have caused reality to collide with the Dark Place.”
The Lake House is due for release in October and will be free for all owners of the deluxe edition of Alan Wake 2. The Lake House is also the last piece confirmed new content for Alan Wake 2, but fans think the DLC will set up a Control sequel.
According to developers, the events of The Lake House unfold parallel to the main Alan Wake 2 story, with players taking on the role of Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) agent Kiran Estevez.
Both Control and Alan Wake take place within the same universe, which has been dubbed the Remedy Connected Universe, with the FBC a central pillar of Control.
Earlier this year, Remedy said: “With Alan Wake and Control we now have two established franchises, and our ambition is to grow them into franchises that have high brand recognition, steadily growing user base, more regular cadence of sequels and an ability to generate revenues and profits at a high level.”
CEO Tero Virtala went on to confirm Control 2 was still in the “proof-of-concept stage” after being announced back in 2022 and the team had recently been working on “world building and combat.” Control spin-off Codename Condor is also still in development.
In other news, Palworld is now available on PlayStation. However the Japanese launch has been delayed indefinitely in the wake of an ongoing legal battle with Nintendo.
