Alana Springsteen Spills on Next Album: ‘It’s Fueling a Wildly Creative Energy’ 

Alana Springsteen is experiencing new career highs, courtesy of the tour in support of her debut album, TWENTY SOMETHING. With a string of sold-out shows under her belt, the country star is back in the studio working on music like never before. In addition to her sessions, the star also teamed up with Bud Light just in time for the summer season. 

As part of her partnership, Springsteen and several country hitmakers will perform for fans 21 and older in age at Billboard presents Bud Light Backyard, a two-day concert event at Tin Roof Nashville set amid CMA Fest. While Springsteen, Corey Kent and Dalton Dover will kick things off on June 7, Dasha, George Birge and LOCASH will continue festivities on June 8.

Since the launch of her counterpart Bud Light Backyard session, Springsteen spoke to Billboard exclusively about the team-up, her work on her sophomore album and how the recent trek changed her life.

“There’s no one more passionate than a country music fan at CMA Fest, so I can’t wait to get hype with them and our friends at Billboard and Bud Light at Tin Roof,” Springsteen said of the upcoming event. “It’s going to be a wild week and I can already tell this is going to be one of the highlights of my year.

While the singer said that she and her bandmates are “ready to get a little wild,” she’s eager to play at such an intimate venue. “Billboard and Bud Light are working hard to create the ultimate vibe and I can’t wait to feel the energy in the bar when we play,” she continued. “I  feel like this is one of those shows that has the potential to take on a life of its own, so we’re planning to show up prepared for anything.”

During her past visits to Tin Roof Broadway, the singer has been decked out in glam as it typically serves as her post-award show hangout. However, this time, she’s looking forward to foregoing the glitz for something more casual that [she] “can actually comfortably sit on a barstool in.”

Besides opening up for Luke Bryan’s “Mind of a Country Boy Tour” in late June, the singer is deep into work on her sophomore effort. “I spent the back half of last year and the first part of this year writing songs for this next era of life I’m in,” she revealed. “The journey of writing and releasing TWENTY SOMETHING propelled me into an era I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. There’s a freedom I’ve felt in my writing and in the studio that I haven’t experienced before and it’s fueling a wildly creative energy. I can’t wait to tell these stories.”

As for what fueled those life experiences, Springsteen wrapped her first headlining tour in February and discovered “a sense of belonging and connection” from the trek. 

“In a lot of ways, the live show feels like the culmination and celebration of all the work we do the rest of the time. The ‘TWENTY SOMETHING Tour’ changed my life,” she explained. “We played to so many sold-out rooms across the world, and got to celebrate these songs with fans and share our stories with each other. I love meeting people from all over and hearing how this music has impacted their lives. They keep telling me how seen they feel when they listen to it, but I just love reminding them that they’re the ones that help me feel seen. They give me a sense of purpose that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to adequately thank them for.”
