‘Alien: Romulus’ popcorn bucket is “one of the coolest” yet
Alien: Romulus has released a series of popcorn buckets – and one of them has been hailed as “one of the coolest” yet.
The eighth instalment in the Ridley Scott franchise has just had its premiere, with its wide release days away (August 16).
But fans have also praised the film’s collectable popcorn mechandise, with exclusive buckets and cups available at select theatres in the US.
The Regal Cinema bucket variant featuring the Facehugger has gone viral, with Twitter user @politeleader96 initially posting their collectible. Reponding to photos of the striking design, which features neon green lights inside a transparent tube to hold the snack, one user wrote it was “one of the coolest popcorn buckets I’ve ever seen”. Fede Álvarez, who has directed the new Romulus film, recently shared the “great” Ridley Scott advice that Martin Scorsese also follows.
In an exclusive interview with NME, Álvarez revealed he met with Scott, who told him: “The director should not be editorial all the time because you lose objectivity with your film.
“If you can stop looking at it for a while and come back to it, you will make it so much better,” he continued. “So I did that during the [Christmas] holidays. I took a month off from the movie and went away and came back… That was great advice he gave me.”
The director also shared that he heard Scorsese himself “purposefully takes six months in the middle of the process just to be objective and then he comes back to finalise it. It’s important because if you lose perspective about what the thing actually is you cannot make a good film.”
