André 3000 Teases ‘New Music, for Sure’ for 2025
André 3000 is in a great creative space these days, so much so that he’s planning on dropping new music in 2025.
While sitting down with Wayno at Camp Flog Gnaw over the weekend, Stacks was asked what his “vision board” looked like heading into the new year. “New music, for sure,” he answered. “New ways to distribute and and express. I don’t wanna pinpoint what it is, but I just wanna express more. Put it like that.”
And that new music may not be too far away, as he revealed that he’s in the middle of finishing his next project during a recent interview with Touré. “At this point, I’m just trying to keep the momentum. There’s such a thing as creative momentum,” he said Nov. 10 after being asked if he had something new in the works. “The next stuff is very interesting, too. We’re almost a third — or halfway — into it. … I don’t know when it will be ready. Who knows.”
3000’s instrumental album, New Blue Sun, has been nominated by the Grammys for album of the year, something that Wayno also asked him about during their conversation. “I’m just happy to get paid attention to,” the legendary rapper said. “The awards are nice because you know at that point more people get to listen and pay attention to what you’re doing, so more than anything, that’s what I love about it.”
Speaking of New Blue Sun, in the same Touré interview from Nov. 10, the Outkast member revealed that he has a solo deal with his label Epic, but his flute album allegedly didn’t count toward his obligations because it’s not a rap album. But don’t get your hopes up regarding an André 3000 solo rap project. “Nah, I don’t have a rap album, none of that kinda s–t, so I’m not stressed about it,” he said. “I wish it would count. It’s interesting news that artists should hear: that this new album is not counting.”
