Andrew Garfield has admitted that he would be up for reprising his role as Spider-Man.

The actor last featured in a crossover appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

Speaking in a new interview with Esquire, Garfield who starred in the Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, said that he would be up for reprising the role if there was a great story.

“For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.

“I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”

Garfield previously reflected on lying about being in Spider-Man: No Way Home, calling the experience “very fun”. He even lied to his Amazing Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone about reprising the role.

“It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun,” he said at the time, referring to a party game about concealing your identity.

“There were moments where I was like, ‘God, I hate lying.’ I don’t like to lie and I’m not a good liar, but I kept framing it as a game. And I kept imagining myself purely as a fan of that character, which is not hard to do.”

Elsewhere, Tom Holland recently said he regretted not contacting Garfield after her took over the role of Spider-Man in 2015.

Garfield will next star in the romantic comedy We Live In Time with Florence Pugh. It is due for release in the US on October 11 and the UK on January 1, 2025.
