Anthony Hopkins gets revenge on carjacker in tense ‘Locked’ trailer

Sir Anthony Hopkins plays a twisted digital vigilante in the trailer for his new horror/thriller Locked, co-starring Nosferatu actor Bill Skarsgård.

In the trailer for the film, based on 2019 Argentinian thriller 4×4, Bill Skarsgård plays a desperate young thief who notices a luxurious SUV is parked and unlocked. Going inside with the intent to steal it, the car locks him inside and the voice of the owner (Hopkins) reveals it is a trap designed to lure him into a torturous exercise in justice.

The film is directed by David Yarovesky, who made 2019 superhero horror Brightburn, and is produced by legendary film-maker Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead and Spider-man films. It’s scheduled for a March 21 release date in the US, with a UK date yet to be announced.

It also finds Hopkins returning to the horror/thriller genre that made him a star. He won his first Oscar for 1991’s The Silence Of The Lambs, where he played cannibalistic killer Hannibal Lecter. Locked sees him return to the same kind of menacing persona, promising his beleaguered co-star: “I just want to introduce you to a little taste of Hell”.

Skarsgård was the lead in two high profile movies in 2024, as the star of The Crow remake and Robert Eggers’ interpretation of Nosferatu. 2025 sees him return to one of his most famous roles, monster Pennywise, in miniseries IT: Welcome To Derry.

Late last year, it was revealed by Nosferatu’s costume designer that the look for Skarsgård’s character, the bloodthirsty Count Orlok, was inspired by The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger.

This month, Anthony Hopkins lost his home in the Pacific Palisades to the Los Angeles wildfires. He later released a statement saying “the only thing we take with us is the love we give”.
