‘Arcane’ is over but a new ‘League Of Legends’ show is already in the works
Netflix aired the final episode of Arcane over the weekend, but the next League Of Legends show is already in the works.
Arcane explored the backstory of League Of Legends champions Jinx and Vi. The show ran for two seasons, with the finale premiering over the weekend. Speaking about the decision to end the show, co-creator Christian Linke said: “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”
He’s now confirmed the next show has been in development “for about a year”. Elsewhere in the Twitch interview, he teased “”Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia are getting shows and are [the] next steps into this cinematic universe.”
The end of Arcane set-up a spin-off with Mel taking on the role of a Noxian warlord and heading back to Noxus to rule over house Medarda. Caitlyn and Vi may have finally got their happy ending but the show left things open to continue their story, while League Of Legends champions Orianna and Swain were also teased.
Speaking to RadioTimes last month, Linke said he wanted to explore “different regions. Piltover and Zaun have been such a home to us for so long, but there’s Noxus, there is Ionia. Bilgewater is really fun. There’s Bandal city, the more quirky part, like we’re looking at all of them really, because we love this IP and we love these characters.”
“You take them all as far as you can and see which ones you know have the wings,” he continued. “So that’s our job right now. There’s nothing kind of set in stone yet, nothing in production yet. But right now, we’re developing those.”
To coincide with the finale of Arcane season two, the complete soundtrack is now available to stream. It features Ashnikko’s anthem ‘Paint The Town Blue’ and Twenty One Pilots first post-’Clancy’ song, ‘The Line’ as well as music from d4vd, Stray Kids and Fever 333.
In other news, Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be “absolutely mind-blowing” according to someone working on the game – but there’s still no release date.
