Ariana Grande Reacts to Christina Aguilera Giving ‘The Boy Is Mine’ Her Stamp of Approval

Ariana Grande‘s late ’90s, early aughts R&B-infused track “The Boy Is Mine” just got a stamp of approval from one of the era’s greats: Christina Aguilera.

In an Instagram video shared by the “Beautiful” singer Thursday (March 14), she shows off her glamorous beaded leotard and black boots as a wind machine creates ripples through her platinum hair. As she smizes for the camera and strikes different poses, Grande’s Eternal Sunshine number — which is quickly becoming a fan favorite — plays throughout the clip.

“The boy is mine, I can’t wait to try him/ Let’s get intertwined/ The stars, they aligned,” the R.E.M. Beauty founder sings on the track. “The boy is mine, watch me take my time/ I can’t believe my mind/ The boy is divine.”

Reposting the video to her Story, Grande showed her gratitude by simply writing, “love you,” alongside four teary-eyed emojis.

“The Boy Is Mine” is one of 13 tracks on the Victorious alum’s new record, which dropped March 8. Preceded by just one single — the Billboard Hot 100-topping “Yes, And?” — Eternal Sunshine is already gunning for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200.

Leading up to the album’s release, Grande revealed that she thinks of “The Boy Is Mine” as a “bad girl anthem.” “It’s kind of like, okay, ‘I’ll play the bad girl, here’s your bad girl anthem,’” she told Zane Lowe in a recent Apple Music 1 interview. “I kind of was like, ‘This is a very bad idea, I think, but there is a large group of my fans that really, they do love a bad girl anthem.’ And this is kind of an elevated version of that.”
