‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ devs aren’t done updating the game just yet
Larian Studios isn’t done with Baldur’s Gate 3 just yet, with a new update coming in September and more planned.
Despite the huge success that came with Baldur’s Gate 3, developers Larian Studios confirmed earlier this year it wouldn’t be releasing a sequel or an expansion. The team later revealed that work had begun on both, before they decided to scrap them.
However, Larian hasn’t abandoned Baldur’s Gate 3 altogether, with a new update planned for September. “Patch seven rolls out the perfect escape with split screen updates, brand new cinematics for evil endings, plenty of bug fixes, plus our official modding toolkit,” the studio confirmed in a new post on Steam.
“Patch seven will also be bringing several new cinematics that offer your more evil playthroughs a grander finale,” Larian continued. “From avatar Origin characters, including the Dark Urge, to the multiple different pathways that you can take as your own player character, each new cinematic is yours to discover through nefarious means.”

The new update will also feature a number of bug fixes, while devs have also improved facial animations in some kissing scenes. The Baldur’s Gate 3 update will go live in September, but Larian are offering fans access to a Beta test, which launches next week. To take part, head here.
Larian has also confirmed that patch seven won’t be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. “We still have a few things up our sleeve – including many community-requested features like crossplay and a photo mode to capture and share your unforgettable moments,” they teased. “And we’re working on a host of other enhancements, from gameplay tweaks and quality-of-life improvements to bug fixes and performance optimizations.”
“The journey isn’t over yet,” Larian promised.
Hasbro has already confirmed it wants a sequel to Baldur’s Gate 3, even if Larian aren’t involved in the development. Well, the game did earn the company £71million in royalties, thanks to its use of Dungeons & Dragons properties.
Larian meanwhile has teased two new projects that will be “even better” than Baldur’s Gate 3, with the new RPG’s based on fresh IPs and described as “very ambitious”.
In other news, Fallout: London has added an ex-MP and former Speaker Of The House to its already-impressive cast of voice actors.
