Beabadoobee “really nervous” but excited for Reading & Leeds 2024
Beabadoobee has shared that she is “really nervous” but excited to play this year’s edition of Reading & Leeds festival.
Speaking to NME in a new interview about her new album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves‘, working with Rick Rubin and opening for Taylor Swift on her ‘Eras’ tour, the ‘Take A Bite’ singer opened up about her upcoming performances at the twin festivals next week (August 22-25).
Beabadoobee – real name Beatrice Kristi Laus – is set to top the bill on the Radio 1 stage at the festivals. “I’m really nervous,” she said. “Inevitably, you’re gonna clash with someone. I’m terrified no one’s gonna watch me!”
Though she admitted that she has nerves about the performance, the singer went on to say: “It’s going to be amazing; I can’t wait to play to everyone.”
The ‘Talk’ singer last played the festivals back in 2022 when she headlined the Festival Republic stage. Speaking about her performance, Laus told NME: “I had a really good time when they played there last time. We ended on ‘Cologne’, and I just looked to the crowd and thought, ‘Well, this is probably like the biggest crowd we’ve ever played to’.
“That was a really crazy moment for me. I’m trying to think of funny stories, but I never really got fucked up in Reading! I’ve been quite well-behaved. The 16-year-olds do that for me. That is hilarious: watching everyone”
In a four-star review of her latest LP, NME shared: “Throughout ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’, Bea reflects on her own experiences of womanhood and the complex landscape you negotiate in those early years of adulthood.
“It’s a time in your life when you look at situations with a new clarity – something she does as she reflects on her own role in – and takes accountability for – past situations. As she’s explained: “It’s accepting that there’s an inevitability of my fault in there too.” It’s looking at her life through a slightly different lens, like putting on a different pair of glasses and finding the world is both familiar but suddenly a little sharper, a little clearer.”
Laus will headline the Radio 1 stage at Leeds on Friday (August 23) and Reading on Sunday (August 25). You can find any remaining tickets here for Reading and here for Leeds.
Other acts to play at the fests include Fontaines D.C., Reneé Rapp, Pendulum, Kenny Beats, Beabadoobee, Kenya Grace, Nia Archives, Two Door Cinema Club, Neck Deep, The Wombats, Ashnikko, Rachel Cinouriri and The Last Dinner Party.
Earlier this year, the 2024 headliners were announced and include Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Rey, Blink-182, Fred Again.., Gerry Cinnamon and Catfish & The Bottlemen.
21 Savage, Jorja Smith (in a UK festival exclusive) and The Prodigy, were also previously announced as additions to the bill back in November.
