Beabadoobee reveals “one thing” she learned from supporting Taylor Swift on ‘Eras Tour’
Beabadoobee has revealed the “one thing” that she learned from being an opening act on Taylor Swift’s all-conquering ‘Eras Tour’.
The artist releases her third studio album tomorrow (August 9), much of which was written while she was on the road with Swift last summer.
And now, in an interview on The Evening Show on Radio X, she has spoken about the specific impact the prestigious slot has had on her as an artist.
“I think the one thing I took from that experience was that if you mess up in front of like that many people, it really doesn’t matter,” she said. “Because you still wake up the next day and feel fine.”
“Literally, I messed up so many times on stage, and like the equivalent of messing up in front of like 50,000 people, it’s like messing up in front of like 5,000. It’s like no difference at all. So, it was chill.”
She also spoke about how seeing Swift’s epic shows on a nightly basis has influenced her own writing style. “She actually inspired me a lot in terms of some of the songwriting on this record,” she added. “Because I saw her live every night. I loved her little country hooks, so I tried putting that in one of the songs on the album.”
On Bea’s first night opening on the tour in 2023, Swift played an acoustic rendition of ‘Our Song’, for Bea, after reading an interview in which she had praised the song.
Beabadoobee has previewed the new record with the singles ‘Take a Bite’, ‘Coming Home’, ‘Ever Seen’ and ‘Beaches’.
In a four-star review of the album, NME wrote: “That’s something that shines through the whole of ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ – Beabadoobee’s knack for capturing the twists and turns of growing into yourself with relatable candour. A collection of songs that showcase the tangled feelings of this time, the young artist’s third record is a poignant, powerful thing.”
In June, Beabadoobee confirmed details of a UK leg of her ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ tour, set to take place later this year, including a date at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace.
She is also due to headline the BBC 1 stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, and will open for Mitski at London’s All Points East festival. Visit here for tickets and more information.
