Big Sean responds to rumours about Kanye West leaking his album
Big Sean has commented on the recent rumours that Kanye West supposedly leaked his upcoming album ‘Better Me Than You’.
West discovered Sean back in 2007 and signed him to his record label, G.O.O.D Music. The latter dropped three Billboard Number One albums through the label: ‘Dark Sky Paradise’ (2015), ‘I Decided’ (2017), and ‘Detroit 2’ (2020).
Last Thursday (July 18), a seemingly rough cut of Sean’s long-awaited sixth album – with features from Nas, The-Dream, Sean’s girlfriend and child’s mother Jhené Aiko, Brent Faiyaz and Charlie Wilson (per Variety) – was leaked online. The record was called ‘Feelings & Random Thots’ and was 15 tracks long.
The leaker suggested it was done in retaliation to Sean allegedly throwing jabs at Ye in his recent ‘On the Radar Freestyle’.
“I had to switch the home team ’cause they committed treason […] N****s looking for engagement like they got their knee bent / I got better things to do than to find someone to beef with,” he rapped. Many believed he was referring to West’s disparaging comments on Drink Champs in 2021, when he said it “was a big mistake” to sign the Detroit rapper – adding: “When I die, on my tombstone it’s gonna say I deserve to be here because I signed Big Sean.”
Sean also supposedly referenced West’s matching tattoos with Lil Uzi Vert and Steve Lacy: “Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch / I’ve seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout.”
“Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here’s the album, fuck him and his whole team,” the leaker under the username Bigseandon811 wrote on their post – adding, “Ye told me to leak it.”
Initially, he shared a teaser of his collaboration with The Alchemist on social media, captioning it: “Might as well start droppin’, before they leak it all, got damn. BIG SEAN x THE ALCHEMIST soon.”

Then, in an Instagram Live broadcast, Sean commented on the conspiracy that Ye was behind his album’s leak.
“I know he wouldn’t do that ’cause that’s trash,’ he said in the stream. “I know he wouldn’t do no shit like that. Whoever did do that, just know that it did fuck me up. I know he ain’t do that. N****s talking about, ‘Ye did that.’ I know he ain’t do that.”
Sean continued while giving a short tour of his mansion: “You see this plaque right here? It says 185million records sold under [West’s record label] G.O.O.D. Music. I love G.O.O.D. Music. Shit, they made more money off my music than I did!
“And leaking a n***a’s shit? I had access to a lot of exclusives — not just him, but other people’s too. And I would never leak nobody’s shit, so I know he ain’t do that. Whoever started that rumour, y’all on some bullshit.”

West has yet to comment on the speculation that the rapper-producer was behind the album leak.
Due to the leak, Big Sean announced the release date for ‘Better Me Than You’, telling fans they could expect the record to drop on August 9. He dropped the boastful single ‘Yes’ on the same day as his album announcement.
“The PRESSURE of life (being a new Dad, being [an] artist that’s growing, being a human in development, etc) and embracing it all led me to a lot of CLARITY on what I needed to FOCUS on to find a piece of HAPPINESS,” he wrote on X/Twitter. “The past few years making this album have been a journey to say the least, but l’m just glad we finally here.”
