Bill Burr wasn’t a fan of surprise “family reunion” with The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan
Comedian Bill Burr has expressed his displeasure at a surprise meeting with musician Billy Corgan, whom it’s claimed could be his half-brother.
In November, Corgan was a guest on Howie Mandel’s Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, where he revealed his stepmother telling him: “Do you know who Bill Burr is? Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a travelling musician”.
On January 21, Mandel surprised Burr by bringing the Smashing Pumpkins frontman on the show. During the meeting with Corgan, Burr jokingly asked: “What was supposed to happen? Are we going to go play catch? We’re both in our 50s”.
After the interaction, The Mandalorian actor was a guest on The Rich Eisen Show, where he reflected on the meeting. “Billy’s fine. That’s the first time I ever met him and it was fine or whatever, but I did not appreciate what Howie did. Not at all”.
He continued: “Howie did what he did because he is a Hollywood whore and he doesn’t care what happens. He could’ve said something and he just brings up all that weirdness”. He said during the interview that he doesn’t “like talking about” personal matters, and questioned Mandell’s motives.
“That’s the thing,” he said. “(Mandel’s) bringing (us) in here not because he’s trying to heal the bullshit that we went through growing up. He’s getting (us) here just for the fucking ratings”. He said the unwelcome surprise didn’t leave any bad blood between the pair, describing Mandel as “sorta hard to hate”.
Recently, Corgan took to his Instagram account to share footage from the Los Angeles wildfires, saying: “The fires touch every strata of society” and commending first responders who fought the blaze.
