‘Black Myth Wukong’ fans barely contain excitment at final trailer
Black Myth Wukong is under two weeks from launch and a final trailer has been revealed. Players have shared their excitement.
The final trailer for the upcoming third-person action game is almost five minutes long and filled with a mix of stunning cinematics and frantic combat.
It’s inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West and will be released on August 20 on PS5 and PC, with an Xbox launch due later. Microsoft requires feature parity between the Series X and the less powerful Series S, and this has caused delays for other games in the past, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, so it could be the reason Xbox players have to wait longer.
The trailer depicts the Destined One, a monkey based on Sun Wukong from the book, who controls a staff that’s able to transform as they wield different abilities. We can see the protagonist breathing fire, disappearing into a puff of smoke, and exploring vast and beautiful landscapes.
On Twitter, people can barely contain their excitment for the game. Floods of replies to the trailer express their eagerness to play. “For a moment, it captures the epic feel of Shadow of the Colossus,” writes Mangalawyer. There is an impressive variety of enemies shown off in the trailer, with many being quite large.
“Longest 12 days of my life,” writes TarnishedRai, alongside a screenshot of their preordered PS5 version of the game and its unlock timer. Preorders for the game are live now on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Game Store.
On YouTube, the game’s Chinese roots are bringing back memories for some. “the chant said in 2:01 is a buddhist chant my mom used to chant after night prayer. so nostalgic,” writes KoeSeer.
In other news, a goldfish managed to beat Elden Ring‘s hardest boss, so if you haven’t, you’d better get practising.
