BLACKPINK’s plans for 2025 include new music and world tour, label says
K-pop quartet BLACKPINK are set to release new music and head on a world tour next year, YG Entertainment has confirmed.
Today (September 24), the K-pop agency shared BLACKPINK’s upcoming plans for 2025 in an announcement celebrating a new viewership milestone for the girl group’s music video for ‘How You Like That’.
“In 2025, BLACKPINK plans to have a full group comeback and visit their fans on their world tour,” said YG per TenAsia, as translated by Koreaboo. The upcoming record will be their first group release since September 2022, when they dropped the studio album ‘Born Pink’.
Last December, YG Entertainment shared that the BLACKPINK members will continue as a group under the agency, but had opted out of additional contracts for their activities as soloists.
The BLACKPINK members have spent most of 2024 on solo endeavours, with Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa launching their own entertainment labels. Meanwhile, Rosé has signed with The Black Label.
Lisa became the first member to drop new music following their departure from YG Entertainment with her single ‘Rockstar’ in June, which was since been followed by ‘New Woman’ featuring Rosalía. The singer-rapper also took home the award for Best K-pop at the 2024 MTV VMAs earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Jennie’s label Odd Atelier has entered a partnership with Columbia Records for her upcoming solo music, which may land as early as next month. In a recent interview, the idol shared that her debut album is in the works, describing it as a way of “bringing myself to the world for the first time”.
Rosé has previewed some of her solo music through Instagram, as well as an unreleased cover of Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ for the soundtrack Apple TV+’s Pachinko. However, both she and Jisoo have yet to announce their upcoming solo plans.
