Today (October 2), BLACKPINK’s Rosé announced her first-ever studio album, called ‘rosie’, through social media. “I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine,” she wrote.
“Rosie – is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me,” the Australian-Korean singer said of the record’s title.
In her post, Rosé also recalled the long creation process of the album after BLACKPINK concluded their 2023 world tour. “I found myself in a session out here in Los Angeles,” she noted. “That led on to a year of walking in and out of the studio, writing songs with songwriters and producers I’d met for the first time, trying to figure out the next chapter in my career.”
BLACKPINK’s Rosé will release her debut solo studio album ‘rosie’ on December 6, 2024.
The announcement of ‘rosie’ comes shortly after the K-pop star inked a deal with Atlantic Records. At the time, Rosé also launched her new “finsta” account @vampirehollie, where she and her team will share updates on her upcoming solo music. Notably, the account handle shares a name with an upcoming song she teased to fans back in February.
In June, the K-pop star shared that she had signed with The Black Label for her solo activities. This came six months after all four members of BLACKPINK decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment in late 2023.
The singer’s upcoming release will be her first solo music since her debut single album ‘R’ in 2021, which included the songs ‘On The Ground’ and ‘Gone’. She also sang the solo track ‘Hard To Love’ on BLACKPINK’s 2022 studio album ‘Born Pink’.
