Bradley Whitford from ‘The West Wing’ criticises Cheryl Hines over husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Trump support
The West Wing star Bradley Whitford has criticised Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines over her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s backing for Donald Trump.
Kennedy Jr dropped out of the presidential race last week and endorsed the former president in his attempt for re-election.
Whitford, who is a vocal Democrat supporter, slammed Hines for not speaking out against her husband for doing so.
Tagging her in a post on X, which also shows a video of Trump boasting that his Supreme Court nominees helped to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision in 2022, Whitford criticised Hines for staying “silent” while her “husband throws his support behind” the former president.
He added: “Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage.”
The overturning of Roe v. Wade meant abortion would no longer be protected as a federal right in the US for the first time since 1973, and each state would decide individually whether to restrict or ban abortion.
It came after Hines, who is yet to comment on Whitford’s post, thanked her husband’s supporters while calling for unity after Kennedy’s announcement.
She wrote: “I deeply respect the decision Bobby made to run on the principle of unity. Over the last year and a half, I have met some extraordinary people from all parties – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. It’s been my experience that the vast majority of all parties are truly good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative, and endearing journey.”
The decision has been made to suspend my husband's, Robert Kennedy Jr.'s, presidency and I'd like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign. They have accomplished feats that were said to be…

Despite her comments, Kennedy in a reply to her social media post, confessed that Hines was “very uncomfortable” with his decision.
He added: “I am so grateful to my amazing wife Cheryl for her unconditional love, as I made a political decision with which she is very uncomfortable. I wish this also for the country – love and unity even in the face of disagreement. We will need that in coming times.”

Meanwhile, The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin recently admitted that it would be “implausible” to make the Republican Party look “reasonable” today if the show was made in the current political climate.
The classic political drama, which ran between 1999 and 2006, focuses on the fictitious administration of President Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen).
Last month, Sorkin also endorsed Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris for President following incumbent Joe Biden’s announcement that he was dropping out of the 2024 race.
