I’m Brian Kelley, and this is some of my favorite Florida slang.

This may go beyond Florida, for sure. But “y’all” definitely pretty popular now, but we grew up saying “y’all.” “You all” — shorten it to “y’all.”

Ten minutes from the beach, 10 minutes from the woods, you’d hear “surf’s up” quite, quite a lot.

This might not be slang, but this is a place we called just a random spot in the woods, when it would rain a bunch, we’d go muddin’ — it’s called “catfish.” You’d say, “Hey, we’re gonna hit catfish today.” It’s like, “Yeah, yeah.”

And those are some of my favorite Florida slang.
