The BRIT Awards 2024 has announced Raye as the winner of the Songwriter Of The Year prize.

Raye will also perform live at the BRITs 2024, appearing on the line-up alongside Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue (this year’s BRITs Global Icon), Tate McRae, Jungle and Rema. There’ll be collaborative performances from Becky Hill and Chase & Status, and Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding too.
Today (February 28), it’s been confirmed that Raye is the recipient of this year’s Songwriter Of The Year award.
Introduced in 2022, the prestigious prize celebrates exceptional songwriting talent and was decided upon by a select panel of expert judges. The previous winners are Ed Sheeran and Kid Harpoon.
Reacting to the win, Raye said: “I am so, so honoured and blown away, honestly to be given this prestigious award for Songwriter Of The Year, it is my very first BRIT award and I will treasure this trophy very much.
“I am so grateful to be recognised as a songwriter as this is a craft I am so passionate about and have been since I started my journey as a musician, and I’m very grateful to those who voted for me to have this award.”

Damian Christian, Managing Director and President of Promotions at Atlantic Records (part of Warner Music UK) and Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2024, added: “After receiving a record-breaking seven nominations, I’m delighted that Raye has also been named Songwriter Of The Year.
“Raye has been such a prominent and respected songwriter for many years, so it’s great to see her getting the recognition she deserves on the biggest stage. I’d like to congratulate her on this win and wish her all the best for Saturday night.”
Last month saw Raye respond to breaking a new BRITs record this year, saying it was beyond her “wildest dreams”. The singer’s seven nominations mark the most nods for a single artist in the ceremony’s history.
Raye said at the time: “I’m a BRIT kid, innit? I went to the BRIT School and it was the goal, the ultimate goal, to find my way somehow to the BRIT Awards.”
She continued: “As far as the industry was concerned, I was down and out. Never in my wildest dreams would I think trying again would mean seven BRIT nominations. This is a whole different thing. Best Album? Are you sick?”
Earlier this week, Chase & Status were confirmed as the winners of the Producer Of The Year statue in 2024.
At the end of 2023, the BRITs announced The Last Dinner Party as the recipients of the prestigious Rising Star award supported by BBC Radio 1.
The BRIT Awards 2024 take place at The O2 in London this Saturday (March 2). The show will be presented by a trio of hosts – Maya Jama, Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp – and will be available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX.
