Britney Spears’ audition tape from ‘The Notebook’ has leaked
Britney Spears‘ audition tape from The Notebook has leaked online – check it out below.
In a recently shared extract from her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, Spears revealed that she auditioned for Rachel McAdams’ role in the film, The Notebook.
Speaking of her acting career, in which she played lead actress in the 2002 movie Crossroads, Spears said: “The experience wasn’t easy for me. My problem wasn’t with anyone involved in the production but with what acting did to my mind.
“I think I started method acting — only I didn’t know how to break out of my character. I really became this other person. Some people do method acting, but they’re usually aware of the fact that they’re doing it. But I didn’t have any separation at all.”
Speaking about her audition for the film, where she auditioned for the role of Allie Hamilton alongside Ryan Gosling, Spears said: “The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on The Mickey Mouse Club, I’m glad I didn’t do it. If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I’d have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.”
The footage of Spears’ screen test was shared by casting director Matthew Barry who shared the footage with The Daily Mail. Watch it here:

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Barry went on to reveal that Spears beat actors Scarlett Johansson Jessica Biel, Mandy Moore, Kate Bosworth, Claire Danes and Amy Adams for the role but that it ultimately went to McAdams.
“Britney wasn’t just good – she was phenomenal,” he told the publication. “It was a tough decision. Britney blew us all away. Our jaws were on the floor. I was blown away – absolutely blown away. She brought her A-game that day.”
Britney Spears’ sharing of the excerpts so far arrived after it was revealed that she will not be narrating the audiobook version of the upcoming memoir due to the “heart-wrenching” time of “reliving” experiences. Instead, the singer has revealed that actress Michelle Williams will be the one taking the reins. Spears will only be reading the book’s introduction.
Spears first announced she was working on a book back in April 2022. “I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic…it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life…I’ve never been able to express openly,” she wrote in a since deleted Instagram post.
The Woman In Me will explore the pop star’s rise to fame, music career and time becoming a mother. It is also set to see Spears talk about her 13-year-long conservatorship in detail for the first time.
