Bruce Springsteen endorses Kamala Harris for US President: “I’ve only got one vote, and it’s one of the most precious possessions that I have”

Bruce Springsteen has announced his endorsement of Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States – see what he had to say about both Harris and Donald Trump below.

Last night (October 3), Springsteen took to social media to share a video in which he revealed that he will be voting for Kamala Harris in the upcoming US Presidential elections and shared his reasons for doing so.

Springsteen began: “I’m supporting Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President, and opposing Donald Trump and JD Vance – here’s why. We are shortly coming upon one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history. Perhaps not since the Civil War has this country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does than at this moment. It doesn’t have to be this way. The common values, the shared stories that make us a great and united nation are waiting to be rediscovered and retold once again. Now that will take time, hard work, intelligence, faith, and women and men with a national good guiding their hearts.”

He then turned his attention to Donald Trump: “Donald Trump is the most dangerous candidate for President in my lifetime. His disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power should disqualify him from the office of President ever again. He doesn’t understand the meaning of this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American.”

He added on his support for Harris: “On the other hand, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view, or sexual identity.”

He concluded: “And they want to grow our economy in a way that benefits all, not just the few, like me, on top. That’s the vision of America I’ve been consistently writing about for 55 years. Now everybody sees things different, and I respect your choice as a fellow citizen, but like you, I’ve only got one vote. And it’s one of the most precious possessions that I have. That’s why, come November 5, I’ll be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

Bruce Springsteen has long been political in his music, but first publicly endorsed a President in 2008 when he announced his support for Barack Obama. Since then, he’s endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, going as far as to narrate his campaign ad and performed at his inauguration in early 2021.

Springsteen is now the latest musician to throw his support behind Kamala Harris.

Last week (September 25), Chappell Roan took to TikTok to clarify that her previous statement about not throwing her undivided support behind any one candidate in the election, due to “problems” on both sides had been “completely taken out of context, per usual,” and that “there is nuance” to what she says in interviews. Roan told her followers that she “encouraged people to use critical thinking skills” to “learn about what they’re voting for” and “ask questions”.

A day later, following continued uproar, she went on to further clarify her stance, saying: “I’m voting for fucking Kamala, but I’m not settling for what has been offered. Because that’s questionable. It’s questionable, the actions of our government, of the internet, of you and me.”

Meanwhile, a host of other stars most notably Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, have endorsed Harris as their presidential candidate. Harris has since shared that she is “very proud” of the former’s endorsement while the latter’s tweet was adopted by the Democrat nominee’s campaign team.

BeyoncéMegan Thee StallionP!nkBon IverQuavo and more have also come out in support of Harris ahead of this November’s election. Billie Eilish and Finneas also recently championed Harris while Eilish’s ‘When the Party’s Over’ recently featured in the Democrat’s Ad on reproductive care.
