Bruce Springsteen not planning for “farewell tour bullshit” anytime soon
Bruce Springsteen has shot down the recent rumours that he’ll be retiring soon – see what the music legend had to say below.
While performing at the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Friday (August 23), Springsteen told the passionate crowd that he’s not “goin’ anywhere” and isn’t planning for “no farewell tour bullshit.” Per a clip shared by Consequence, he said: “We’ve been around for 50 fuckin’ years, and we ain’t quitting! We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullshit! Jesus Christ! No farewell tour for the E Street Band!”
He continued: “Farewell to what? A thousand people screaming your name? Get the hell out. I ain’t going anywhere!”

Springsteen’s affirmation comes after rumours began to spread earlier this year that The Boss’ current tour could be his last. In late July, his guitarist Steven Van Zandt teased more shows for the E Street Band: “I don’t see the end anywhere in sight, to be honest, especially in Europe, where we’re bigger than we’ve ever been. I think we can play every summer for evermore, man.
“I love that the Stones are still out there. Because as long as they’re out there, man, we’re still the new kids on the block, right? So I’m good with that,” Van Zandt added.
Last month, Springsteen and the E Street Band play two huge concerts at Wembley Stadium in London, which wrapped up the UK/Ireland and European leg of their 2024 tour.
In September 2023, The Boss was forced to postpone the remainder of his tour dates for that year due to a continuous battle with peptic ulcer disease. He subsequently rescheduled the impacted US gigs for 2024.
This May, however, Springsteen postponed his Marseille, Prague and Milan shows after experiencing “vocal issues”. He is currently set to play those concerts in May and June next year following a run of North American dates in 2024.
Meanwhile, a new documentary called Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band will be released on Disney+ and Hulu this October.
Bruce Springsteen released ‘Only The Strong Survive’ – a collection of R&B and soul covers – in 2022. It followed on from his 20th studio album, ‘Letter To You’, which came out in October 2020.
