RM drops ethereal music video for new single, ‘Wild Flower’
BTS leader RM has released the music video for ‘Wild Flower’, the title track of his much-anticipated debut solo record ‘Indigo’.
The ethereal visual features RM reflecting on his career between a lush field filled with flowers and a stormy wasteland. ‘Wild Flower’ also features vocals from South Korean rock singer Youjeen, although she is not featured in the music video.
“Idling repeats, memories turning vicious / Lying in a field, I set my sights onto the skies / Now I can’t remember what I wanted so badly,” RM croons in the track.
Apart from ‘Wild Flower’, ‘Indigo’ features nine other tracks—all of which were co-written by RM himself. Production on the record was handled by long-time BTS collaborator Pdogg, john eun, HONNE, eAeon, among others.
The record also features several collaborative tracks, namely ‘Yun’ with Erykah Badu, ‘Still Live’ with Anderson .Paak, ‘All Day’ with Tablo of Epik High, ‘Hectic’ with Colde, and ‘Closer’ with Mahalia and Paul Blanco.
Prior to the release of ‘Indigo’, RM had briefly touched on the concept for his solo record at a livestream he hosted earlier this year. “I had fun working on music, I think it will be completely different from ‘mono’,” the rapper shared at the time. “If ‘mono’ recorded my 2016 to ’18, then I think this new album serves as my diary and archive for 2019 to ’22.”
In a teaser that premiered in the days leading up to ‘Indigo’’s release, the rapper had also referred to his debut solo record as “the last archive of my twenties”.
RM is the third BTS member to release a solo project for the year. Prior to the release of ‘Indigo’, members J-Hope and Jin have released solo projects Jack In The Box’ and ‘The Astronaut’, respectively.
