Illumination, the animation studio behind the film, has joined forces with the K-pop boyband on a line of BTS- and Minions-themed merchandise in support of the movie’s release, which is set to hit theatres on June 24.
The merchandise to be released under this project will include T-shirts, hoodies, trainers and tote bags featuring Minions styled as the BTS members, per Korea JoongAng Daily. The BTS Minions created for the collaboration will be dressed in the outfits from the boyband’s music video for their hit 2021 single ‘Permission To Dance’.
BTS Minion Funko Pop! figures will be made available for preorder from June 21 onwards exclusive on Entertainment Earth’s website. Meanwhile, the rest of the collection will be made available for purchase via fan community platform Weverse in the US from July 1, and will also be distributed by Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters both in-store and online.

Korea JoongAng Daily reported that the collaboration was meant to “celebrate the theatrical release of Despicable Me 4” as well as the introduction of a new antagonist for the film named Poppy Prescott, described as a “wannabe villain and a member of BTS’ fandom, ARMY”.
In other BTS news, Jimin has teased the upcoming release of his second solo studio album, titled ‘MUSE’. It’ll come about a year-and-a-half after his debut record ‘FACE’, which was released in March 2023.
