On Sunday (July 21), the band posted the confirmation of Harvey’s exit from the band after fans had noticed that the singer hadn’t been featured in the Butcher Babies’ posts on social media for around six months.
Butcher Babies wrote on Instagram: “Carla has been an integral part of our journey, bringing her unique talent, passion and energy to the band. We are grateful for the incredible memories we’ve made together and the impact she has had on our music and our fans. We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
They also said that they are “excited for this new era” of the band.
Harvey also shared her own statement regarding her exit from the band: “Over the last 6 months You may have noticed my absence from [Butcher Babies] posts. After 15 years of dedication, I wanted to let you know that I will not be rejoining the band for any future endeavors. I am super proud of my work with Butcher Babies… 2 EPS, 5 Full lengths albums and countless tours with our metal heroes!”
She continued: “To all of our incredible BB friends and fans…you have provided me with some of the greatest experiences of my life! I have loved every second of writing and performing all over the world for you! I have loved meeting you. WOW. I still can’t believe this kid from Detroit got so lucky.”
Carla Harvey ended her statement with an emphatic promise to fans: “I am not done making music and performing. I WILL see you soon.”
Butcher Babies were co-founded in 2010 by Carla Harvey and her co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd. They most recently released two albums, ‘Eye For An Eye…’ and ‘…Till The World’s Blind’, on the same day in 2023.
Earlier this year, Harvey and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante got engaged during a U2 show in Las Vegas. The likes of Butcher Babies’ Heidi Shepherd and Benante’s Pantera bandmate Rex Brown were among those to send messages of congratulations, as were the likes of Gary Holt (Exodus, Slayer) and Misfits‘ Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein (via Consequence).
