Calibre 50 Extends No. 1s Record on Regional Mexican Airplay Chart With ‘Dirección Equivocada’

Calibre 50 collects its 23rd No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with “Dirección Equivocada,” which rises to the top of the April 15-dated ranking.

“Dirección Equivocada” takes over Regional Mexican Airplay in its 10th week on the chart with an 8% gain to 9.6 million audience impressions in the United States in the week ending March 6, according to Luminate.

The new champ reigns following the addition of two new members to the group, although they’re not on the recording. José Mario Gastelum Medina is now the lead singer and accordionist, while Oscar Francisco Arredondo Hijar contributes the docerola, or 12-string guitar. Armando Ramos – who co-wrote song – and Angel Saucedo have departed the act, as announced this week.

“Dirección Equivocada” is the second single from Calibre 50’s album Tiempo Al Tiempo, which is set to drop April 21 via Disa Records.

With the new No. 1, Calibre 50 improves its career total to 23 Regional Mexican Airplay leaders, remaining atop the list for the most among all acts since the chart began in 1994. Now, the Mazatlán, Sinaloa, ensemble moves five rulers ahead of its closest competitors. Let’s look at the scoreboard:

“Dirección Equivocada” also makes progress on the all-genre Latin Airplay tally, lifting 6-3. It’s the highest the group has ranked since “Préstamela a Mi” peaked at No. 3 in April 2016.
