‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ ranked play release date, what we know
Call of Duty has struggled in recent years to deliver ranked play in a timely manner. Often releasing several months after launch, players have been getting a delayed experience year over year after the mode stopped being released alongside the main game. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is changing that. However, the mode wion’t be available right away.
Here is when you can expect ranked play for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and what Treyarch have said about the mode.
‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ ranked play release date
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ranked play will release on November 21, 2024, as a part of Season 1, Treyarch confirmed on the Call of Duty Blog. This is the earliest the mode will have come to the game post-launch.
During COD Next, Treyarch talking about how they have been building towards Black Ops 6‘s ranked play over the four year dev cycle and after working on ranked play for every other Call of Duty in recent years. Therefore, we should hopefully be getting the most polished and complete ranked play experience to date (at least when you look at the modern era of Call of Duty).
‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ ranked play rules and restrictions
The core of Ranked Play is the same as it always has been. It offers a competitive experience using the same maps, modes, settings, and weapon restrictions as the Call of Duty League. To access Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, you will need to have won at least 50 multiplayer games to ensure bots and cheaters can’t easily jump in the mode.
Previous iterations of ranks and Skill Divisions have been merged to focus most on Skill. You can earn SR to progress through the 8 Ranks in the game: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent, and Top 250. There are no progressive ranks or Victory Stars which have been seen previously.
Before each ranked play match, three map and mode combinations will be presented to players who can vote to veto one of the options as a team, having a say in what mode and map is played. If a match isn’t going your way, you can forefit in a match but you will need to play a certain portion of it before this is possible:
- Hardpoint: Winning Team reaches 100 Points
- Control: After first Round
- Search & Destroy: After third Round
This will only count as a standard loss and do not give any SR penalties or suspensions. Additionally, every day you are granted a loss forgiveness, allowing you to warm up or lose a match without SR being deducted.
