‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Season 2 release date, updates, more

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 Release Date: Several Operators can be seen in Hideout

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 first season has been one of the most content-rich seasons we have seen for a Call of Duty game. From the new maps in multiplayer to the Warzone  additions, battle pass items and unlocks, alongside all the new modes and playlist tweaks, you can’t say Treyarch hasn’t done a great job at keeping things fresh.

But, with each season comes another one after it, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 is almost here and Treyarch have revealed everything you need to know about the season. While it won’t be as packed content-wise, it will still have a lot going on.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Season 2 release date

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Season 2 will release on Tuesday, 28 January, 2025, according to the Call of Duty Blog. This puts the first season at around two and a half months, which is about average for each Call of Duty season.

Season 2 Reloaded should arrive sometime in mid-to-late February. Additionally, the five-year anniversary of Warzone falls on March 10, 2025, so we could see some celebration of the battle-royale, alongside the return of Verdansk.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Season 2 multiplayer updates

Black Ops 6 Season 2 sees the game get five new maps. These include Bounty, which is set atop a huge skyscraper full of tight corridors, a lot of corners, and multiple interweaving pathways between the main lanes of the map.

Dealership is a medium-sized map set amongst the streets and buildings in a dense city. The map is centered around a car dealership which serves as the main battleground. You can fight in amongst the vehicles, in the back offices, and around the loading bay at its rear.

Lifeline is a 2v2 and 6v6 strike map set aboard a small yacht. As you can expect this is a chaotic fighting experience with very little breathing room between the bow and stern of the ship.

During the mid-season Reloaded update, Bullet will join the list of strike maps playable in 2v2 or 6v6. It is set aboard a thin bullet train that is on the move. Fight within the carriages or climb onto the top of the train to get a quick escape.

Finally, Grind will also return from Black Ops 2 in the mid-season update. This map hasn’t changed too much and is still set amongst a skate park with all the same sniping spots, ramps, and combat opportunities you remember.

In Season 2, multiplayer will get a few new modes. First of all Gun Game is returning. Additionally, Overdrive is a charged-up twist on TDM, where you earn stars for kills. 1 star is earned for a body kill, 2 stars are earned for a headshot or melee attack, and 3 stars are earned for takedowns. Rack up stars quickly in one life to earn special overdrive abilities.

At 1 star you can see enemies through walls and heal after each kill. At 3 stars you gain increased movement and reload speed. At 6 stars you have improved sprint-to-fire accuracy, hip-fire accuracy, and ADS speed.

Mid-season, 3v3 Gunfight will arrive and Couple’s Dance Off will celebrate Valentine’s Day with 2v2 face-off modes.

Other multiplayer updates include the new Hunter’s Instinct perk mid-way through the season. This raises your base sprint speed at the cost of removing Tac Sprint. Flyswatter arrives as a Wildcard mid-season and allows you to replace your melee weapon with a launcher. The War Machine scorestreak is also coming back as a part of a mid-season event.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Season 2 Zombies content

Zombies will see another new map in Season 2. This time: The Tomb. The Tomb offers an experience similar to Liberty Falls – tighter play spaces, plenty of easter eggs, and the return of the Staff from Origins. It appears to be set in a similar environment to Origins, tieing the story of the Zombies timelines together in a new way.

Additionally, in the gameplay trailer we can see some of the more fantastical elements from this era of Zombies which appear to be making a return.

In Season 2, challenge tracking will be added, allowing you to manually track up to 10 camo and calling card challenges. You will also be able to see nearly completed challenges in the game lobby and options menu. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and multiplayer will also be added, alongside co-op pause allowing the leader to pause a match.
