The 17-year-old Australian actor joins Dwayne Johnson in the remake.
The sequel arrives in theaters this fall.
"As we know, there’s a lot of noise and negativity out there, but I deeply believe that positive energy, light and mana can make a real difference in people’s lives," the actor wrote.
She will, however, be an executive producer on the highly anticipated film.
The actor is expected to reprise his role as Maui for the new film.
