Chappell Roan Soars Back to the Top of the U.K.’s Albums Chart

Chappell Roan has returned to No. 1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, 15 months after its initial release in September 2023.

The debut LP from the Missouri singer has spent 40 weeks and counting on the chart, and enjoyed a steady 17-week climb before eventually hitting No. 1 for the first time in August 2024. In December, the Official Charts Company confirmed it to be the biggest debut album of the year in the U.K., bolstered by Roan’s stint as a support act on Olivia Rodrigo‘s Guts tour.

Now, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess finds itself at the summit again this week following the release of a limited edition Blood Records LP version of the album. Earlier this month, Roan came first in the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2025 list, an annual poll that recognizes rising artists with “the best chance of mainstream success.”

Roan beat Sabrina Carpenter — whose recent top 10 mainstay Short N’ Sweet remains a non-mover at No. 2 this week — to the top spot. Glasgow-formed indie-rockers Franz Ferdinand follow at No. 3 with The Human Fear, their highest charting LP since 2009’s Tonight. The record also marks the band’s first full-length release with new drummer Audrey Tait.

SZA’s expanded SOS Deluxe: Lana slips to No. 4, while Ed Sheeran’s +–=÷× (Tour Collection) finishes the week at No. 5.

Further down the chart, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny notches his first-ever U.K. Albums Chart entry with Debí Tirar Más Fotos securing the No. 13 spot. Punk duo Lambrini Girls also make their chart debut, with their first album, Who Let the Dogs Out, coming in at No. 16.
