Charli XCX says she, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter headlining Primavera Sound 2025 is the “holy trinity”

Fresh off the back of the announcement that Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter all set to headline Primavera Sound, the ‘Brat’ singer has declared it a “holy trinity”.

Yesterday (October 24), the festival announced the full line-up for their 2025 Barcelona edition, with the 23rd instalment set to feature performances from LCD Soundsystem, FKA Twigs, HAIM, Jamie xx, Fontaines D.C., Beach House, IDLES, Clairo, Turnstile and more.

Returning to the Parc del Fòrum from June 4-8 in the Spanish city, Primavera boats a gender-balanced line-up – a hallmark of the festival since 2019 – with 147 artists on the bill including TV On The Radio, Sturgill Simpson, ANOHNI and the Johnsons, Floating Points, Stereolab, Spiritualized and Parcels among many more.

It’s been a huge year for each of its female headliners, with pop heavyweight Jack Antonoff recently praising their individual efforts and claiming “Brat summer” should be renamed “artist development summer”.

“Sabrina, Charli and Chappell Roan — the three of them have had this shared experience of artists who have been crystallising, and that’s where you get gems,” he said. Likewise, Billie Eilish commended the trio, saying fans were drawn to them because they’re “fucking awesome”.

Following the line-up announcement, XCX took to X to nod to their collective pop cultural force, saying: “headlining primavera sound next year with sabrina and chappell. finally holy trinity unlocked ;)”

Fans have been equally enthusiastic, with many noting how rare it was to have all female headliners, with one saying it was “really incredible” after years of “arguing with men on here about how women will and should dominate festival lineups and being told not enough women make music”. Charli XCX’s headline slot comes after years of becoming a festival favourite. She chose last year’s Primavera to debut ‘Everything Is Romantic’ ahead of the release of the universally-acclaimed album ‘Brat’ and the cultural phenomenon it became, capturing the attention of even the political sphere.

Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter are both making their debuts in headlining a major European festival.

Roan has become internationally huge after the massive but slow-burning success of her 2023 debut album ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess‘ – becoming a vocal advocate against overzealous fandom in the face of fame – while Carpenter has been enjoying a sold-out arena tour after her viral hit ‘Espresso‘ and platinum-selling sixth album ‘Short N’ Sweet‘.
